Gaon me 22.5 aur Shahar me 28
Congratulations! people of great India. Govt. of India (Planning Commission of India and its Great Statisticians) has defined new definition of poverty. If you are living in rural India and spending rs. 22.5/day & in urban India and spending rs. 28/day then you are not in the category of poor. These figures are lower than the rs. 32 in urban areas and rs. 26 in rural areas for the year 2010-11. Plan panel deputy chairperson Mr. Montek Singh Ahluwalia attributed the decline to the UPA Govt's 'successful' inclusive growth strategy.
How can a Govt. hadded by the prestigious gold medalist in economics define such a terrible definition of poverty? Do they don't know what is the inflation rate? What is the current petrol prices? price of basic nutritional food and necessary medicines?
At one hand we talk to provide skilled human resource to the whole world despite of not having a quality education system nor we are having in sufficient numbers educational institutions which provides quality education by someone can get a job. On the other hand we are running away from the reality, we are providing such false figures to only show that we are developing in true sense.
What is the meaning of development? Should it be sustainable development around the country or should it be through by making big buildings and shopping malls in few cities which we can count on fingers? Still there are 500 million people in India who eat only one time in a whole day. Its pathetic and terrible!
GOI should not provide such definition of poverty only to show the world and its own people that we are growing fast, in a stunning way. It would be good if they accept the reality and do development work honestly not just only to make their own figures strong to show to the poor people of India in next election.
